The Embedded Systems series of prints are relief prints, produced from metal plates. To produce the plates, I disassembled various electronic and mechanical devices; within each device were various metal parts, which I subsequently flattened in a sculptural process (I pounded them flat with hammers). Once flattened, these pieces became the printing plates. Since they were formerly part of their respective devices, they were "embedded" within them, hence the title of the show.

After the plates were completed, I inked them with a rubber roller; because the plates are not perfectly flat, they have individual textural qualities and anomalies. Once inked, the plates are placed on the press; paper is laid on top the plate, and the plate is run through the press, transferring the image from the plate to the paper.

Each image in the Embedded Systems series is available in an edition of 25, individually signed and numbered. Please note that the image "Punkt" is not for sale. All prints are on Rives BFK archival paper; the paper size is 11 x 15. Final framed size for all images is 18.5 x 17.25. We have selected a handsome wooden frame to complement your print from the Embedded Systems print series. The frame is covered in an attractive red stippled finish; the print is mounted on an archival window mat, and covered by UV-blocking conservation quality glass.
